Argentine Republic
(Spanish: República Argentina) |
Turkish Republic

| Origine of Name |
The name Argentina comes from
the Latin argentum (silver). When the Spanish conquistadors
discovered (and shipwrecked) at the Río de la Plata, local people
offered gifts of silver, causing the legend of Sierra del Plata — a
mountain rich in silver. The land later was called Tierra
Argentina (Land of Silver). |
The name Türkiye consists
two words: Türk, means "strong" or "vigorous" in Old Turkish and
normally means the inhabitants of Turkey, someone speaking Turkish or a
member of the Turkish nation; and the suffix -iye which means
"owner" or "related to".
