Argentina is the 8th biggest country in
the world. With close to 3 million Km2 (2,78
million Km2)
it is approx. 3,5 times as big as Turkey.
Surrounded by
Bolivia and Paraguay (North), Uruguay and Brazil (North East), the
Atlantic Ocean (East and South) and Chili (West and South), it forms
together with the latter the Southern tip of the South American
Continent.
Compared to European standards, the country is HUGE. Flying
from North to South, a distance of approximately 3.694 Km has to be
covered. The longest distance from East to West still takes
1.423 Km. And that is exactly the way how you should move
around: by airplane.
The Andes mountain range in the West (reminding us
of ancient cultures like the Inca), the Pampas
(fertile plains)
and Patagonia (extreme nature, combination of steppe
and barren desert, sometimes feeling like "the end of the world"),
the Rio de la Plata (discovered by the
Conquistadores) and the Sierra de la Plata or
"mountain of silver", Ushuaia
and the Tierra del Fuego (Land of Fire) ... it are all names that we are
familiar with and that are part of world heritage.
